About
My name is Dimitar Darazhanski and this is my blog.
I live and breathe IT and…. motorcycles. After my family and friends, these are my two biggest passions!
IT
I studied International Relations for almost 5 years and just before graduating I decided to change my field completely. So… a few years later I got my BS in Computer Science. To be honest that is one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
I am primarily a programmer. I started with Java and C++. I have to say that I love Object Oriented Programming and Design and I code in these two languages any time I have a chance to do so. Then I went into Web Programming with JavaScript, VBScript, ASP, PHP, XML, etc.
As I moved to a new job position I started programming in PeopleCode and became a PeopleSoft systems administrator on UNIX AIX boxes. Along with this came the ksh scripting, PL/SQL, ORACLE and Web Logic administration.
Since the second half of 2009 I started doing Android development with Java and Eclipse.
Linux is by far my favorite OS. I have been using many distros amongst which: Red Hat, Fedora, Suse and Ubuntu. The last one has been my preferred choice since the first half of 2007. I have grown to appreciate Debian and its derivatives.
Saying that does not mean that I am one of those Windows haters. I have programmed for Windows and worked with Windows on a daily basis. It is an operating system that definitely has its strengths. I also have the utmost respect for Bill Gates- especially in regards to his generosity. After all he is the only man I know that has donated the better half of his wealth for good causes. (Update: Should not forget Warren Buffett).
Motorcycles
There is something about riding that you have to experience in order to understand it. It is hard to explain that mixed feeling of dangerous excitement and freedom…
My current bike is Suzuki DL650 V-Strom.
